NSWFA Veterans' Competitions

NSW Fencing runs Veterans' events in conjunction with most of its Open Foil and Epee competitions. In addition, a separate Veterans' State Championships is held in Foil, Epee and Sabre.

All competitors in a NSW Veterans' event must be aged 40 or above on the day of the event, and must be affilated with NSWFA Inc.

The same entry fees and equipment requirements apply to Veterans' events as to Open events in NSW. For more information, see the main NSWFA Competitions page of this website.

The competitions are normally run using a standard Direct Elimination format, although for veteran fencers, DE bouts are only to 10 hits.

Where different age categories are combined in one competition, a "handicap" system may be applied:

• For pool bouts, 1 hit per age-category difference
• For DE bouts, 2 hits per age-category difference
