AFF Veterans' CompetitionsThe Australian Fencing Federation includes Veterans' events at all three of its Open tournaments, and the Veterans' National Championships is held in conjunction with the Open National Championships. All competitors in a AFF Veterans' event must be aged 40 or above on the day of the event, and must be affilated with NSWFA Inc. A single AFF entry fee ($60) covers all three Veterans' weapons at an AFF tournament. At present, no penalties are charged for late entries, although the Technical Director reserves the right to revert to standard late-entry rules if the competition numbers go up. Please note, however, that the competitor must still pay separate entry fees if he/she is entering the Open events as well. As with all other AFF events, NSW fencer entries to AFF Veteran events may be made via the Online AFF Entry form. For full details, see the AFF Competitions page of this website. Note that AFF Veterans' events have the same equipment requirements as all other AFF competitions - for full details, see the Equipment section of this website. The competitions are normally run using a standard Direct Elimination format, although for veteran fencers, DE bouts are only to 10 hits. The overall winner of each Veterans' event receives a gold medal. In addition, with the exception of the medallist, the highest placed fencer in each of the age categories (40-49, 50-59, 60-69, etc) receives a certificate.
