Squads

NSW Fencing runs weekly training sessions for selected squad members in all three weapons, under the Head Coach, Antonio Signorello.

Personnel

Antonio has recuited a number of members and coaches to assist him in conducting squad training and managing teams. NSWFA thanks all of them for their help in maximising the effort put into our squad training program.

Squad rules 2010

A) Fencers are selected on a 3 monthly basis.

B) Fencers not attending regularly might be substituted

C) Fencers must confirm their acception of selection by return email

D) Every last week of the month will be held a "Season team Championship"

E) Every last week of the month will be held a "Maxipool Championship"

F) Only number 1 in AFF ranking "must" be selected

G) Fencers are selected by the Head Coach and his assistants based on:
     1) rankings (FIE, AFF, NSW),    
     2) age perspective,    
     3) possible commitment ,    
     4) single comps.

H) Epeists are"invited" to a free entrance from the Epee TD

I) All fencers of all weapon will train weekly

Squad members 2010

Senior squads

The following fencers have been selected for squad participation for the first term [Feb, Mar, Apr] of  2010, commencing on Tuesday 2nd February.  All weapons will meet weekly, with sabre commencing at 5pm and foil and epee at 6pm.  Please note, the fee for Tuesday night squads has increased to $8 - $6 for squad practice plus $2 for armourer's service.

Epee Squads:
The Epee Technical director, Jeff Gray, invites all epeeists interested in representing NSW in any event to come along to squad practice on Tuesday 2nd February at Marrickville PCYC, Illawarra Rd, Marrickville at 6pm.  The schedule for epee squad practice for 2010 is attached.  Epeeist are requested to bring shorts and running shoes, additional to fencing shoes, to practice.

Junior Squads

All squads commence in the first week of March.

Sabre:
Junior Sabre squad is held at Marrickville from 5-7 on Fridays. Selection is Open to all Junior (U20) fencers. If you are interested in trying out for this squad, please attend the first session on 5th March.

Men's Foil:
Junior Men's Foil squad will be held at Marrickville from 5-7 on Fridays, also commencing on 5th March. One Friday each month, the Junior Men's Foil Squad will be held at Masters fencing club (commencing date and selection for this venue to be advised).
Selection for Marrickville squad: Matthew Donald, Hayden Fitzgerald, Sam Mooney-Grand, Edward Phillips, Stephen McCloskey, Samuel Wayland, Matthew McEwen.

Women's Foil:
Junior Women's Foil held at UNSW from 10.30-12.30 on Saturdays.
Selection: Tenielle Murray, Alice Clementson, Natalie Mollen-Grigull, Anita Moser, Emme Oliver, Imogen Brush, Bella Sheridan, Helene Humphrey.

Epee:
Junior Epee squad to be announced shortly.

There is an $8 fee for all squads which may be paid weekly. If you participate in more than one squad session per week, squads members are asked to pay $15 at the Tuesday squad session which will include the junior and senior session and the Friday session.

Team selections

The NSWFA Executive has prepared a discussion paper on selection policy to encourage member views on this topic. All comments will be considered carefully in the drafting of a selection policy to guide the Selection Commission.
