Coaching

The NSWFA recognises that it is in the best interests of the sport to have as many accredited coaches as possible. This especially applies to providing fencing coaching in schools.

The NSWFA therefore strongly supports the process of coaching accreditation. It does this by:

  • Providing incentives for coaches to become accredited by offering comprehensive insurance coverage.
  • Conducting a Level 1 coaching course each year.
  • Providing administrative support for candidates to obtain or upgrade their accreditation.
  • Maintaining a database of accredited coaches on its website, and by referring enquiries received to accredited coaches.

In NSW Fencing, coaching related matters are managed by the Coaching Commission.

On 1 March 2009, NSWFA hosted a meeting of coaches to discuss the appointment of Antonio Signorello to the Head Coach position, and to hear Antonio's vision for the development of fencing in NSW. A report of this meeting is available:
