Coach appointment – Simon Capon
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Capon as the NSW Epee Assistant National Coach.
Having been involved with fencing since 2006, and coaching since 2012, Simon’s primary aim is to pass on the enthusiasm and love for fencing that has possessed him since he first picked up a sword.
Since beginning his coaching path under Maestro Antonio Signorello, Simon has coached students at every level up to the Grand Prix circuit. A 3 weapon coach, his focus has more recently been shifted toward epee at NSW squads and at the NSWFC. Simon is very keen to work on strengthening our current epeeists and to forge the next generation of epeeists.
Schools and parent liaison – Jacqueline Fontaine
I am also delighted to announce the appointment of Jacqueline Fontaine as our Schools Liaison Officer and our Parent Liaison Officer.
Jacqueline is a parent of Yves Fontaine (an AFT member from Sydney Grammar). Jacqueline is an artist and has practiced law in her past career. She will be working with our Schools coordinator, Caitlin Taylor, and with the board to help us bridge communications and engagement with schools and parents. Jacqueline brings with her the experiences and perspectives of parents, schools and those who are involved in touring and an impressive amount of energy, enthusiasm, creativity and intelligence.
