Important message for School Fencing Co-ordinators and School Coaches

The 2017 NSW Schools Championship fencing season gets underway in earnest soon.

On 13 May, the A J Rae and Roseanne White Teams Championship will decide the Senior (+15) teams to represent NSW at the National Schools Team Championships in Brisbane on 17-18 June. Also on 13 May will be the first of the U15 Schools Team Premiership events for Boy’s Foil. This initiative offers more fencing competition for U15 Boy’s Foil on eight competition days during the schools fencing season.

On 20 May, the Senior Girl’s Foil and Senior Boy’s Foil individual events will be held, followed on 27 May by Senior Girls and Senior Boys Epee and Sabre…and the first ABC U13 Foil competition for the year.

New venue

It’s important to note that this year all school fencing competitions will be held at the New South Wales Fencing Centre at 190 Bourke Road, Alexandria NSW 2015.

Also, please note that as we are no longer constrained by time schools fencing competitions will be held on Saturday mornings and afternoons with varying start times. Please check the calendar carefully.

Some of the larger events – e.g. U15 Boy’s Foil and U13 Boy’s Foil – will most likely require two rounds of pools before the direct elimination round. For these events, the day will be longer but the competition will be finished in one day rather than two as previously.

Entries

For efficient planning and management of the competitions, it is important for all schools entries to be received in advance. The deadline for individual and team entries is Thursday before the Saturday competition.
